Player progress, lesson plans & booking for tennis coaches

Log benchmark drills at the fence and chart them against each player’s own baseline, with UTR or WTN alongside. Run the lesson from a timed plan, and let families book and pay from one link.

Tennis in Upswing

What it does, in order.

01

The record behind the rating

Ratings move slowly and noisily, and a junior can improve for a whole season while their UTR sits still. Upswing keeps the work underneath: benchmark drills with numeric results, such as a 60-second wall rally, serves in out of 20, or the spider run, each charted against the player’s baseline and personal best.

You or the family can keep the current UTR, WTN, or NTRP on the same record. Upswing does not sync with those systems. Development reviews sit beside the data, so a parent reads your assessment next to the numbers it describes.

02

Benchmark days for a whole clinic

Measure on a rhythm. Every six to twelve weeks, turn one clinic station into a benchmark day. The Benchmark Day grid lets you run down the roster and type one number per player, and each entry drops onto that player’s chart.

03

Plans you run on court

Build a session from timed blocks: a warmup, drills, a benchmark, and match play. Run it from your phone with the current block, the time left on it, and the next block on deck. When the plan reaches the benchmark, you log the number and it lands on the record.

04

Booking that starts with a link

Your booking page shows your real availability, and parents book into it themselves. Privates, semi-privates, clinics, and camps each have their own duration, capacity, price, and credit cost, and recurring clinics exist every week without being recreated.

05

Rainouts, packs, and policies

A rainout is one tap: the session is cancelled, every family is notified, and credits go back on their packs. Packs come off as lessons are booked, cards stay on file, and the cancellation rules you set are applied the same way every time. There is no transaction fee on your lesson money.

06

Portable to any court

Your roster, records, and payment history live in your own Upswing account, so they stay yours when you move to a new club or add a second one. The club’s court software keeps doing its own job alongside.

Example benchmarks

Numbers tennis coaches already use.

Point-scored tennis testing is decades old. Pick three to five drills per player, run each one the same way, and log it on a rhythm.

BenchmarkHow it is runExample
Wall rally, 60 secondsControlled hits against a wall from behind a set line. Count the legal touches in 60 seconds.11 at baseline, 22 by spring
Serves in, out of 2020 serves from the same side and the same spot. Count the serves that land in.9 of 20, then 14 of 20
Longest rallyA cooperative rally with the coach or a partner, counted in shots to the first error. Best of three tries.8 shots, then 19
Spider runThe five-ball pickup pattern around the service boxes, timed in seconds. Lower is better.19.8 s, then 18.1 s
UTRThe official rating from the player’s UTR profile, entered by you or the family. Higher is better.4.2, then 5.0 over a year

Example numbers are illustrative. You choose the benchmarks and protocols for your own players.

Questions

Asked, answered.

Does Upswing track UTR or WTN?

You or the family can keep the current UTR, WTN, or NTRP on the record, next to the drill results. Upswing does not sync with those systems or calculate them.

Do parents need to download an app?

No. The booking page works in any browser. A parent taps your link, books, and pays in one sitting, and the family portal is there when they sign in.

I teach at a club that runs its own court software. Does that matter?

Usually not. The club’s system books courts and its own programs. Upswing runs your private-lesson business and your players’ records, and it stays yours if you change clubs.

Is there gamification for juniors?

No. There are no points, streaks, or leaderboards. Each player is measured against their own past, and the record belongs to the family.

What does it cost?

A flat subscription by roster size: $99, $149, or $249 a month, with no transaction fee.
